Schengen Rights
Introduction
When applying for a residence permit, it is not necessary to obtain a declaration from Sirene National Bureau. Under Article 77 (1) (i) and (6) of Law No. 23/2007, of 4 July, if the applicant is listed in the Schengen Information System (SIS), AIMA shall contact Sirene National Bureau for the purposes provided for in Article 7(2) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1862, and in accordance with the consultation procedure laid down in Article 9 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1860 and Article 27 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1861, all of 28 November.
You may address your application for ACCESS, ERASURE or RECTIFICATION to any Member State, regardless of the issuing Member State. However, only the competent authorities of the issuing Member State may modify, update or erase the data they have entered.

Applications
All requests to access, rectification or erasure of personal data from SIS addressed to Sirene National Bureau must be sent by mail to the following address:

For this purpose, you can use the following application forms:
Important remarks:
- Applications must be legible; if handwritten, they must be in BLOCK PRINTING LETTERS;
- Applications submitted by e-mail ARE NOT ACCEPTED;
- A LEGIBLE and CERTIFIED COPY of the biographical part of the identification document (e.g. passport, residence permit, etc.) must be attached, failing which the application will be rejected;
- Applicants will be asked to correct any shortcomings or omissions within 10 days. If they do not reply satisfactorily, the application will be filed;
- The authentication of the identity document may be provided in the following entities:
- CTT
- Notaries
- Registry offices
- Parish councils
- Lawyers
- Solicitors
- If the data subject is represented by a lawyer or solicitor, the power of attorney must specify the powers to exercise the rights of access within Schengen Information System;
- Applications regarding minors may be submitted by their legal representatives, attaching certified copies of their identity documents;
- Due to the unusually high number of requests we have received regarding access rights, we regret that we are unable to respond to all requests in a timely manner and within the legal deadlines.
Data processing:
The personal data collected are processed exclusively for managing requests for information and clarification purposes addressed to SIRENE National Bureau. The data processing stems from the legal obligations provided in article 3(1)(i) and article 5(2)(h) of Decree-Law 122/2021 of 30 December. Personal data processed for this purpose will be kept for a maximum period of 6 months, in paper form, and 2 years, in digital form, after the request has been replied.
